My Story - Responibility

Assalamu-alaykum, How are you doing today?

Alhamdulillah, my gran is much better now. My dad is so happy and he was especially proud of Amina and I.

Since we behaved so well my dad said that we can have a special reward - anything we like. Before I could even think, Amina shouted out, " We want a pet Trantula!"

My dad said, "Okay, if that's what you want you can have it but you need to look after it."

"Remember it does not have a mummy and daddy so you have to be like its parents. You have to make sure that it is fed, happy and in good health, its not an easy job."

Amina and I talked about it and decided that it was far too big a responsibility for us. If we did not look after it, Allah would ask us about it in the next life. We decided to get toys instead!

Lesson - Talking to Animals

Prophet Suliman (as) was given a special ruler ship on the earth. He ruled over the whole earth not just over one town, people or country.

The most extra ordinary gift Allah had given him was that he ruled over all the animals and Jinns as well. Allah had given him such a special power that he could communicate with all animals and Jinns on earth.

In one incident, his army was marching along and he heard the ants saying that watch out Suliman's army might trample us. Allah had made it so that Suliman understood this so he commanded his army to stop until the ants had passed.

Suliman (as) was one of the few people to rule the whole earth, the only other Muslim being Zul Qarnain.

Story - the Shepherd boy

It was another hot day and the poor shepherd boy, Ibn Masud, was looking after a flock of sheep on the outskirts of Makkah. The sheep belonged to one of the merchants of Makkah who would pay Ibn Masud to look after them from morning until night.

The sheep would wander around and Ibn Masud made sure that none of them got lost. There was also a danger that a wild animal might come and eat the sheep so Ibn Masud always had a big stick handy.

This was like any normal day as Ibn Masud watched the sheep wandering and eating of the scarce grass. He was paying close attention because this was the time that many of the wild animals would be out looking for an easy meal.

In the distance he could see something moving.. As this shadow came closer he realised that it was two people walking towards him. He was worried at first and had his stick ready for action. When they came closer he realised that it was Al-Amin, as Muhammad was known, and his friend Abu Bakr. He got very happy as they came closer and closer.

The two men came and they met the shepherd boy. They rested for a while and then asked him if he had anything to drink as they were thirsty. Ibn Masud replied, "No!" and because these sheep did not belong to him, he could not give them any milk from them either.

Al-Amin asked him to bring a sheep that has no milk. Ibn Masud brought the sheep over and watched as Al-Amin made a dua and milk came from the sheep. They all drank the milk then the two friends continued their journey. Ibn Masud had seen a miracle and soon became a Muslim.

Penpal Reflects

Assalamu-alaykum, lots of people think that because we are kids we don't have any responsibilities but being a kid is really hard work. We have to look after our parents if they are not well, we have to try hard at school and mosque-there is so much more.. PP
